It all started with a tiny wine bar on Bainbridge Island, just outside Seattle WA, where Gretchen & Chris decided to take on a business together. To their great pleasure, the local community embraced this adventure and rewarded them both with such a wonderful experience that it would push them forward in search of another hospitality path. “We loved our little wine bar but the problem was that people had to go home at the end of the evening!” As the two began to look for another adventure, they continued to return to the Columbia Gorge for food, wine and hiking. In 2019, they found the Husum Riverside B&B for sale so they sold their beloved wine bar, their house and moved to White Salmon.
Renovation and remodeling began immediately in October to all the rooms, the main house and the 1890’s icehouse in time for them to open March 6th 2020…..for 8 days. They quietly reopened again in May and began the Chefs Collective dinners in June. Since that time, their inn has grown in service to their guest and the community. They have also been expanding the dinners into winter and will now be hosting small weddings. In October 2022 they finally tied the knot with a ceremony in Trout Lake to friends and family. They are both fortunate and grateful to be welcomed into such a supportive community as the Columbia Gorge. It is their wish to share their love for one another and this amazing place with their guest and all that visit.
